Description
In many timing appliances, it is very necessary to switch off a device after a particular setting time. The circuit described here switches off the device autometically after a particular setting time from 3 min to 30 min. Thus this is a very efficient design by which the user don’t have to take care of their appliances regarding time.
The circuit uses 14 stage counter IC4060 (IC1). It has on-chip oscillator capable of stable operation over a wide frequency range. The oscillator frequency is determined by an external RC network connected to pins 9,10 & 11. The 14th stage output at pin3 is given to Hex Inverter IC4049 (IC2) which is used to invert the output pulse so that the timer becomes off. At the same moment, alarm is raised which indicates that the timer is off.
